Participation at the II CINBIO Annual Meeting

The II CINBIO Annual Meeting (PACBB 2018) took place in Vigo (Spain) days 25th and 26th June, and the SING group participated in different ways. First, PanDrugs was presented by Elena Piñeiro-Yánez from the CNIO Bioinformatics Unit in a talk entitled "PanDrugs: novel method to prioritize anticancer drug treatments according to individual genomic data". PanDrugs, recently published in Genome Medicine, is a feasible method to identify potentially druggable molecular alterations and prioritize drugs to facilitate the interpretation of genomic landscape and clinical decision-making in cancer patients.

Secondly, our SEDA software, developed in collaboration with the Phenotypic Evolution Group from Porto, was presented as a poster presentation entitled "A toolbox for facilitating the manipulation of FASTA sequences". And finally, Daniel Glez-Peña acted as chairperson of the first session of the second day.

We take this opportunity to congratulate the organizing committee of this II CINBIO Annual Meeting for the excellent organization and the huge effort made for the ocassion.

Participation at the PACBB 2018 conference

The 12th International Conference on Practical Applications of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics (PACBB 2018) took place in Toledo (Spain) from 20th to 22nd June, and the SING group participated with two contributions made in collaboration with the Phenotypic Evolution Group. Both contributions, listed bellow, were presented in the third session of the conference, entitled Omics data analysis and mining:

  • H. López-Fernández; P. Duque; S. Henriques; N. Vázquez; F. Fdez-Riverola; C.P. Vieira; M. Reboiro-Jato; J. Vieira (2018) A bioinformatics protocol for quickly creating large-scale phylogenetic trees. 12th International Conference on Practical Applications of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics: PACBB 2018. Toledo, Spain. 20 - June
  • N. Vázquez; S. Rocha; H. López-Fernández; A. Torres; R. Camacho; F. Fdez-Riverola; J. Vieira; C.P. Vieira; M. Reboiro-Jato (2018) EvoPPI: a web application to compare protein-protein interactions (PPIs) from different databases and species. 12th International Conference on Practical Applications of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics: PACBB 2018. Toledo, Spain. 20 - June Presentation file

The first contribution was presented by Jorge Vieira (Phenotypic Evolution Group), who introduced a novel bioinformatics protocol for quickly creating large-scale phylogenetic trees where some of our previously developed tools such as SEDA and ADOPS are used. The second contribution was presented by Hugo López-Fernández, postdoctoral researcher of our group, who introduced EvoPPI, a web application to compare protein-protein interactions (PPIs) from different databases and species.

Also, Florentino Fdez-Riverola and Miguel Reboiro-Jato acted as chairpersons of the second (Systems Biology) and fifth (Sequences) sessions, respectively.

CiteScore 2017 values are now available

Elsevier has just released the CiteScore metrics updated with 2017 annual values. You can see the official release note here. Powered by Scopus, citation impact metrics are available for all peer-reviewed research journals, book series, conference proceedings and trade publications covered by the popular abstract and citation database launched in 2014.

As Elsevier says, CiteScore provides "a set of simple, reproducible journal metrics that cover all journals in Scopus. Although the values are presented as a set number annually at the end of May, you can use CiteScore Tracker to monitor the impact of titles each month, giving a good indication of what their mid-year’s value will be.".

This year, more than 23 350 source titles were ranked by the eight indicators that form CiteScore metrics: CiteScore, CiteScore Tracker, CiteScore Percentile, CiteScore Quartiles, CiteScore Rank, Citation Count, Document Count, and Percentage Cited.

Please, remember that CiteScore has been moved to the new Scopus metrics page available here.
